Flooring Porter retains his crown in the Paddy Power Stayers’ Hurdle in brilliant fashion

After winning the Paddy Power Stayers’ Hurdle behind closed doors last year, Flooring Porter repeated this feat in front of packed crowds this afternoon and connections made up for their absence in 2022 by celebrating in style.

It was the same jockey and the same result in this race, Danny Mullins stacking them up superbly at the summit of the hill having enjoyed something of a freebie in the early stages of the contest and seemingly in complete control when moving into top gear. Paul Townend appeared to be cruising on favourite Klassical Dream while Champ and Thyme Hill were both digging deep to make their respective challenges. Royal Kahala‘s stamina gave way and while Paisley Park was on good behaviour as he got rolling in the later stages, it was a case of too little too late as Flooring Porter won with plenty to spare, triumphing by around two and three-quarter lengths.

It’s all Ireland today, come on the Brits!
